Magaia A Fa'i Shirt

“Magaia a fa‘i” — man, those bananas were so good.

This tee is inspired by a story passed down from Vaisala, Savai‘i, where an old man was known for praising the bananas after every meal… even though they were the only thing left untouched on his plate. The phrase became a family joke—one we still say after every meal.

Designed by my mom for family in the States, this piece carries humor, memory, and cultural storytelling in one wearable design. The artwork features taro root, yam root, and breadfruit, intentionally highlighting everything but fa‘i—adding a playful nod to the story behind the saying.

Created with love, laughter, and legacy in mind, this shirt honors Samoan storytelling, family traditions, and the little sayings that stay with us forever.
